French Premium is an advanced learn
language software program. It aims to take a
user from a basic level through all the stages
to advanced level and fluency. It covers all
the core skills a person needs to be competent
in a language – speaking, listening, reading
and writing. It has a speech recognition
program that helps you to perfect your
pronunciation. A new addition to this updated
version is audio CD's so that you can listen to
French dialog away from your computer.
The software is
split into 6 types of learning activities,
known as workshops. The workshops are lesson,
grammar, vocabulary, cultural, oral, and
written. Within each workshop there are
numerous exercises and multimedia devices to
teach you the core skill. So if you are
interested in the cultural side of the language
you would select this workshop. You will learn
things about France, food, history, geography
and other topics that can give your language
skills some context.
You can also select
how you learn. At the start of the program you
will be asked how you want to learn. This is to
do your own thing, be advised by the software
based on your original objectives or to be
taught by the software based on your current
weaknesses. To this extent, the program will
track your progress and abilities.
You receive a
headset and microphone for use with the
software during the speaking and pronunciation
exercises.
