Berlitz French
Premier comes on 8 CD's. The program
consists of software that is compatible with PC
and Mac computers and audios that can be
listened to at the computer, in the car or on
your mp3 player.
The software is
basically a series of videos of common
situations in the home, in social situations
and simple conversations that might take place.
You can do various things with the videos. You
can watch them and listen to the dialog. There
are various boxes that can be opened with the
video that give you the written text of
the dialog. There is also an English
translation and things like word meanings,
types of verbs used and the infinitive of the
verb. You can cover listening, comprehension
and reading skills using these videos.
There is also an
audio feature that allows you to record your
French speaking and have it analyzed by the
program.
There is a
flashcard program that helps you learn
vocabulary. There are a few other word games
like a crossword game that helps you to think
about how a word or phrase is written. There is
also a screensaver that prompts you for french
words.
The audio lessons
consist of 4 CD's. You can listen to these on a
CD player in the car or create mp3 files and
listen to them just about anywhere. There are
various games, like the flashcard games that
can be transferred to your ipod and used away
from the computer too.
